Oh yes. The Jumpin’ Pumpkin Jamboree at Eckert’s Farm. The family and I loaded into our suburban assault vehicle and and headed out to the country last Saturday. At this point in my life, my only experiences with pumpkin patches come from Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin.
But as we found out, Eckert’s is much more than just a pumpkin patch…
We arrived around 10:30am to discover Apple-themed tilta-whirls, tractor rides, corn dogs, pumpkin-shooting cannons, live bluegrass music, kettle corn, petting zoos, and pig races – that’s right friend, I said pig races! (see below right pic)
After checking out all of the festivities, we went looking for the perfect pumpkin. After about 90 seconds of intense searching, I found what was clearly the patch’s masterpiece.
So we got it. I wish there was a more exciting story…maybe about Em fighting off a family of ninjas to secure it…but alas, sometimes things just work out. And by the look on Owen’s face, they worked out pretty well.

That picture of Owen wit the pumpkins is so cute–Linus is waiting for the Great Pumpkin!!! Actually he looks more like Charlie Brown–but he has that Ulmer cutest for sure
Yay! So glad you guys have a blog. I’d been hoping you would start one. Love your blog title, by the way! Can’t go wrong with a reference to Raising Arizona. “Son, you have a panty on your head.” =)
We have a blog too. Check us out if you get a hankering to.

Owen is the CUTEST kid. That smile. Aw. You guys did well!!
Love,
Kristy (Manis) DePriest
What cute pictures! Owen has as much hair as his mother did at that age!
(per my mom…)
Looks like a fun time. We will have to wait a while to take Declan to the pumpkin patch. But I can’t wait to do that!
I look forward to keeping up with your family via your blog. Maybe the rest of us will join the club…
Travis and Emily,
How ironic. I am currently in the process of getting ready to unveil my new blog, and Dave is working on one as well! You can visit my site, but there are currently no posts yet, just workin on my layout and such.
And yes, I nearly puked at the cuteness of Owen surrounded by pumpkins! Just be careful not to accidently bake him into a Thanksgiving pie. Love your blog, I’ll definently be adding it to my blogroll and frequent it often.
That’s too bad. Jonathan loves ninja stories. Happy to hear that you’re doing this. Love to see how Owen is growing!
Hey Travis,
I tried to leave a comment the other day, but it said it was in “moderation”, so I’m not sure where it went. I’m not very familiar with the format of WordPress.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I’m glad you guys have a blog!
Kristy
Hey all – thanks for the support! Sorry I’m just getting these comments “approved”. Kristy, so good to hear from you…we’re adding you to the blogroll!
I thought I would let you know we wend to a craft fair this weekend, otherwise known as cruel and unusual punishment, and they had pig races going on. I thought it was really funny since I had just read about it on your blog.
[...] Our house has been a buzz with lots of preparation for Owen’s first Halloween. It all began with the annual carving of the pumpkin. Travis, being the “Clark Griswold” of the family, insisted on our little family watching “Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin” to get into the spirit of Halloween. After the inspiration we received from Charlie, we set out to carve our beautiful pumpkin (which we picked ourselves…see “jumpin’ pumpkin jamboree“). [...]
